Vutalk encrypts every message and call on your device. You sign up with an email address — and the only way anyone finds you is a username you chose to share.
An email gets you in.
Nothing else follows.
Most messengers make a phone number the price of entry, then quietly turn it into your identity: searchable, shareable, tied to a document with your name on it. Vutalk asks for an email address, uses it only to let you sign back in, and never makes it searchable.
Internally an account carries a server-allocated identifier that nobody is ever shown. It corresponds to no telephone line anywhere.

Not blind faith.
Encryption only helps if the key belongs to the person you think it does. Every conversation has a safety number derived from both identity keys. Compare it once, in person or over another channel, and Vutalk will stop and warn you if it ever changes.
Key transparency runs underneath: the mapping from an account to its public keys is published in an append-only log, so a server handing out a substituted key leaves permanent evidence.

Contact discovery is how most messengers grow: hand over every number you know, get told which of them are users. Vutalk does not do it — not on our servers, not in an enclave, not at all. There is no setting to turn off.
It also removes the mechanism most often used to reach strangers at scale. An account can only be reached by someone who was handed its username.

What you get
End-to-end encrypted
Messages, calls, attachments, group names and member lists are encrypted on your device. Our servers hold ciphertext and no key.
No phone number
You register with an email address. We never ask for a number and never send an SMS.
No address book upload
Your contacts stay on your phone. There is no contact matching to switch off, because there is none at all.
Found by username only
Nobody can search for you by email or by number. You share a username, and you can change it whenever you like.
No ads, no trackers
