Vutalk is an end-to-end encrypted messenger for people who would rather not hand over a phone number or an address book to start a conversation.

What we build on

We did not invent our own cryptography. Vutalk's encryption follows published, peer-reviewed designs — X3DH for key agreement and a Double Ratchet for per-message keys — because a protocol that has survived years of public scrutiny is worth more than a clever one nobody has attacked.

Parts of the service are built on open-source software licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3. The licence notices ship with the app, under Settings, and you can request the corresponding source for the version you are running.

What we will not do

• Sell, rent or trade your personal information.
• Show advertising or embed third-party trackers.
• Ask for your phone number or upload your address book.
• Add a way for ourselves to read your messages. There is no key escrow and no backdoor.
